Following extended questioning by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Lagos socialite Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, was reportedly released on Tuesday evening. He was taken into custody on Monday night from his residence in the Omole area of Lagos and transported to the EFCC’s Abuja office for interrogation.

E-Money was detained over allegations of Naira abuse and defacing of foreign currencies. On Tuesday evening, he appeared on his Instagram account, @iam_emoney1, celebrating his release. In a video, he appeared in a palace setting and captioned it, “No tension, everywhere good, I see all your love and support. God bless you all,” with the song “Thank you for saving me, thank you my Lord” playing in the background.

Attempts to reach EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale for confirmation were unsuccessful as of the time of this report.Socialite Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, acknowledged E-Money’s release via his Instagram handle, writing, “My brother don fall out, To God be the glory.”

Earlier on Tuesday, E-Money had been apprehended for allegedly spraying U.S. dollars, a violation under the Foreign Exchange Act.An EFCC source confirmed the arrest, stating, “He was arrested Monday night at his residence in Omole, Lagos, for Naira abuse and defacing of foreign currencies. He’s alleged to have sprayed U.S. dollars. Investigations are ongoing, and he will be charged to court once concluded.”
