Lagos State issues 48-hour notice to mechanics, traders, and truck drivers under Marine Beach Bridge as part of Apapa clean-up initiative in partnership with Nigerian Navy.

The state government, in collaboration with the Western Naval Command, has begun an environmental clean-up targeting areas under the Marine Beach Bridge, Mobil Road, and its surroundings. Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Engr. Kunle Rotimi-Akodu, stated that the exercise is aimed at restoring order and improving the well-being of residents.

Authorities observed multiple environmental violations across motor parks and mechanic zones, attributing the disorder to traders, mechanics, and truck assistants who sleep in vehicles and operate illegally under the bridge.During the exercise, officials informed operators that sleeping in parks or selling alcohol on roads and in shanties contravenes state sanitation laws. The clean-up will continue across Lagos, and residents are encouraged to cooperate.

Rear Admiral Michael Oamen of the Western Naval Command described the collaboration as a civil-military engagement aimed at eliminating environmental infractions in Apapa. Apapa Council Chairman, Idowu Senbanjo, pledged continued support for the initiative. Shanties in affected areas were dismantled and removed by LAWMA trucks during the clean-up that began Friday.
