Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to prosecute Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate or KWAM 1, over his unruly behaviour at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The NCAA’s petition follows an incident on Tuesday, August 5, where KWAM 1 allegedly attempted to block a moving ValueJet aircraft, violating Nigeria’s civil aviation regulations.

In swift response, the NCAA has called for a comprehensive criminal investigation and the initiation of appropriate prosecution in accordance with the provisions of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023 and all other applicable laws. It was earlier reported the NCAA had already slapped KWAM 1 with a six-month ban, warning that any local or international airline that flies the singer during this period risks having its license withdrawn.

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo also condemned Ayinde’s actions, describing them as “unacceptable and reprehensible.” According to reports, trouble started when Ayinde was prevented from boarding a Lagos-bound flight due to a flask with alcoholic content.

He allegedly spilled the substance on an aviation staffer during a fit of rage. Two ValueJet pilots involved in the incident have been suspended for unsafe behaviour. Keyamo emphasised that no individual is above the law and that KWAM 1 must face the consequences of his actions.

“The NCAA was correct to suspend the two erring pilots, but I fault the one-sided judgment, insisting that the unruly passenger be dealt with too,” Keyamo said in a post on X. As the investigation unfolds, the fate of KWAM 1 and the implications for the aviation industry remain uncertain.
