Dangote Industries Limited has denied ownership of the truck involved in a fatal crash on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Highway that killed six people and left several others injured on Wednesday. Reports indicated that the collision occurred around 9 a.m. between a cement-laden truck and a Toyota Corolla, killing all five occupants of the car. The truck, which bore the name of Visco Investment Global Limited, was en route from Aba to Abuja.

Viral videos had linked the truck to Dangote Group due to its logo, but the company dismissed the claim, stressing that the vehicle was operated by a third party. In a statement, Dangote Group said it was investigating why its logo appeared on the truck, adding that measures would be taken to prevent misuse of its brand identity.

The company urged the public and media to avoid spreading unverified information and pledged cooperation with authorities investigating the matter. It also condemned attempts to exploit tragedies for malicious or financial purposes, while reaffirming its commitment to safety and corporate responsibility.

The denial comes weeks after another fatal crash involving a Dangote truck in Auchi, Edo State, claimed the life of Ruth Otabor, younger sister of Big Brother Naija star Phyna. The recent graduate of Auchi Polytechnic was struck by the vehicle in August, sustaining severe injuries that led to the amputation of a leg before her eventual death on August 31.

The incident drew public outrage, renewed calls for accountability, and sparked wider debate about underage and unlicensed drivers of heavy-duty trucks, as well as corporate responsibility on Nigerian roads.
