Police Federation chief arrested in corruption probeThe head of the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) has been arrested on suspicion of corruption. Mukund Krishna, the federation’s chief executive, was detained along with two other individuals linked to the organisation by the City of London Police on Wednesday. The force said its domestic corruption unit has been investigating allegations of fraud involving abuse of position connected to the federation over the past year.

Search warrants were carried out in Wales, Somerset, London, and Surrey as part of the inquiry. Detective Superintendent James Halkett said the domestic corruption unit is leading a criminal investigation into fraud allegations against three people connected to the national Police Federation. He confirmed that a 46-year-old man from Surrey, a 51-year-old man from Wales, and a 55-year-old man from Bristol were arrested on suspicion of fraud by abuse of position.

Halkett described the case as a “complex and active investigation” with multiple lines of inquiry being pursued. The Police Federation represents more than 145,000 officers, from constables to chief inspectors, across England and Wales. A federation spokesman said the organisation is aware of the arrests and is cooperating fully with authorities, adding that it is inappropriate to comment further while the investigation is ongoing. He emphasised that the federation remains focused on its work and continuing to represent its members nationwide.
