Thousands of demonstrations are set to take place across the United States on Saturday as part of the latest “No Kings” protest targeting the policies of Donald Trump and his administration. Organisers say more than 3,200 events are planned across all 50 states, with expectations that it could become the largest single-day nonviolent protest in U.S. history. Previous “No Kings” protests have already drawn millions of participants nationwide.

Major rallies are scheduled in cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Minnesota’s Twin Cities. However, organisers note that a significant portion of participation is expected from smaller communities, reflecting growing nationwide engagement beyond major urban centres.

Leah Greenberg, co-founder of Indivisible, said the spread of protests into less traditional areas is a defining feature of this mobilisation, highlighting increased political activism across the country. With U.S. midterm elections approaching, organisers report rising participation even in traditionally Republican states such as Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and Utah. Suburban areas seen as key battlegrounds in elections are also experiencing a surge in interest.

In response, the White House, through spokesperson Abigail Jackson, dismissed the protests, describing them as insignificant and primarily of media interest. The upcoming demonstrations mark the third “No Kings Day of Action” since the movement began last year. The first event reportedly drew between 4 and 6 million participants, while the second saw even larger turnout figures across thousands of locations.

Organisers say the latest protests are also driven by opposition to ongoing military tensions involving the United States and Iran, as well as broader concerns about domestic policies. Deirdre Schifeling of the American Civil Liberties Union argued that past demonstrations have produced tangible political outcomes, citing instances where government actions were reversed following public pressure.
