Al Nassr, a prominent Saudi Pro League club, has abandoned plans to sign Nigerian forward Victor Boniface. Instead, the team is finalizing a deal with Aston Villa’s Colombian striker Jhon Durán.
Boniface had been in advanced talks with Al Nassr, but according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the agreement was never formally secured. As a result, Al Nassr shifted its focus to Durán, and the necessary documents are being prepared to complete the transfer.
Aston Villa is expected to receive a €77 million fixed fee plus add-ons for Durán’s transfer. The 21-year-old has agreed to a long-term contract and is scheduled for a medical examination on Thursday. Following the medical, Durán will travel to Saudi Arabia to finalize the move.
This development has left Boniface’s future uncertain. The Bayer Leverkusen striker will now need to compete for his position in the team. Boniface was excluded from Bayer Leverkusen’s recent Champions League match against Sparta Prague due to the potential transfer.
Boniface’s contract with Bayer Leverkusen extends until the end of the 2028-2029 season. The Nigerian international’s future plans remain unclear following Al Nassr’s decision to pursue Durán instead.
