Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in prison following his conviction on prostitution-related charges.Prosecutors had sought an 11-year term, but Judge Arun Subramanian delivered the reduced sentence after a lengthy hearing marked by emotional testimony. Combs’s legal team had argued for a 14-month term, which would have amounted to time served since he has already spent more than a year in custody.

The 55-year-old music executive expressed remorse before sentencing, telling the court he was “truly sorry” for his actions and pleaded for a second chance. In July, a jury acquitted Combs of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering but found him guilty on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution.

During the hearing, Casandra Ventura, Combs’s former partner and the singer known as Cassie, submitted a statement describing years of alleged abuse and coercion. She detailed being forced into so-called “freak offs” with other men, recounting one incident in 2016 that was recorded and later shown in court. Ventura said she continues to suffer trauma and has relocated with her family out of fear of retaliation.

Prosecutor Christy Slavik argued that Combs had failed to fully accept responsibility, noting that he had even booked public appearances in Miami in expectation of a light sentence. She described this as “the height of hubris.”In his defense, attorney Nicole Westmoreland portrayed Combs as an inspirational figure in the Black community and a social justice advocate who had made mistakes but should not be “warehoused” in prison.

Combs’s six adult children also spoke on his behalf. Quincy Brown described him as “a changed man,” while his daughter, D’Lila, pleaded for mercy, asking the judge to allow their family to heal privately rather than remain in the spotlight. Despite their appeals, Judge Subramanian ruled that a prison term was necessary, though far shorter than the maximum prosecutors had sought.
