Six people have tragically lost their lives in an accident involving a truck and a Toyota Sienna on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway at Verony, Ogere. The incident was confirmed by Florence Okpe, the Spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, in a statement released from Abeokuta on Friday.

The accident occurred at 7:40 am and involved a Toyota Sienna with registration number EPE 692 EL. The truck involved could not be identified as it did not stop after the collision. Okpe reported that the accident was caused by excessive speed on the part of the Sienna, which rammed into the moving truck from the rear.

“Two men and seven women were involved in the accident; unfortunately, two men and four women died, while three women sustained injuries,” Okpe stated.

The injured victims were transported to Patmag Hospital in Ogere, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to FOS morgue in Ipara.

The Sector Commander of FRSC in Ogun State, Akinwumi Fasakin, described the crash as an avoidable tragedy if proper caution had been exercised by the driver. Fasakin urged motorists to prioritize concentration while driving and to always adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
