A Kano State High Court has remanded Mannir Ibrahim-Abdullahi, a 43-year-old man, in a correctional center for allegedly raping a minor to death. The Kano State Government charged him with culpable homicide and rape. Justice Zuwaira Yusuf gave the order and adjourned the matter until December 9 for a hearing.

Prosecution counsel Lamido Abba-Sorondinki stated that Ibrahim-Abdullahi committed the offense on August 1 at Jaba Panisau Quarters, Kano. The victim’s father had taken the minor to Waraka Chemist, owned by the defendant, for malaria treatment.

However, Ibrahim-Abdullahi allegedly raped the victim to death. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges, which contravene Sections 221 and 283 of the Penal Code.Justice Zuwaira Yusuf has scheduled the next hearing for December 9, pending further investigation and testimony.
