The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service has transferred crime suspect Obi Levi Obieze to the Lagos State Police Command for continued investigation.
The handover was confirmed by Police Public Relations Officer CSP Benjamin Hundeyin through a statement on X, noting that Obieze was handed over at the Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja.
Obieze, also identified as Levi Obu Onyeka, was apprehended on May 29, 2025, at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road while attempting to escape on a motorcycle. His arrest came after intelligence linked him to the abduction and suspected ritual killing of a 13-year-old girl in Isiagu Community, Enugu State.
The Nigeria Immigration Service, through a statement by its spokesperson ACI AS Akinlabi, confirmed Obieze’s arrest. The suspect, a native doctor from Umuajor village in Enugu, was allegedly part of a trio that kidnapped the girl on May 27, 2025, while she was walking to the farm with her father. She was later rescued from a shrine reportedly connected to him.
Authorities identified Obieze using a National Identity Management Commission enrollment slip found on him, and he reportedly confessed during initial questioning.
