
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).The announcement was made on Friday, June 6, at a ceremony held at the Government House in Uyo, attended by notable APC leaders from across Nigeria.Governor Eno stated that he has decided to “progressively move to the APC,” noting that he had already submitted his resignation letter from the PDP to his ward chairperson prior to the event.
Elected under the PDP banner in 2023, Eno’s defection marks a significant political shift. Among the APC governors present at the ceremony were: Hope Uzodimma (Imo State, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum)* Monday Okpebholo (Edo State), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi State), Bassey Otu (Cross River State), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos State), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun State), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta State)With his defection, Umo Eno becomes the second PDP governor from the South-South region to join the APC in under two months, following Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s earlier switch.
