Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been conferred with the traditional title of “Sarauniyar Yaki,” meaning Queen Warrior, by the Akko Emirate in Gombe State. The honor was bestowed by Lamido Akko, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Atiku, during her two-day official visit to the state.
The title recognizes Tinubu’s consistent advocacy for women’s empowerment, child welfare, and maternal health initiatives across the country. Her visit also includes inaugurating Gombe State’s maiden Health Summit and commissioning facilities such as the Federal Medical Center in Kumo.
The summit is designed to address health challenges, highlight the state’s achievements in the sector, and outline solutions for broader improvements. Tinubu, who arrived in Gombe earlier today, was celebrated for her efforts in promoting the welfare of the vulnerable, particularly the girl child, while advancing social development.
Her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, shared photos of the ceremony on X with the caption: “Behold the Sarauniya Yakin Kumo; the Queen Warrior of Akko Emirate Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON!”
This latest recognition adds to a growing list of traditional honors received by the First Lady, including her installation earlier this year as “Ugosimba 1 of Enugu.” It reflects her increasing influence in both cultural and humanitarian spheres nationwide.
The Akko Emirate, part of the wider Gombe Emirate, carries deep historical significance in northern Nigeria, and the conferment highlights Tinubu’s contributions to national unity and community development.
