Saudi Arabia has announced that the 2025 Arafah sermon will be translated and broadcast live in Hausa, Yoruba, Fulani, and 34 additional languages. The initiative aims to enable pilgrims and global audiences to follow the sermon in their native languages for greater understanding and engagement. The update, shared on Saturday by Haramain, a Saudi-based news platform, highlighted Nigeria’s inclusion in the language lineup with Hausa, Fulani, and Yoruba among the selected languages.

The broadcast, scheduled for Thursday, 9 Dhul Hijjah 1446, will include translations in Arabic, Urdu, English, French, Indonesian, Persian, Chinese, Russian, Bengali, Turkish, Malay, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, Tagalog, Amharic, Bosnian, Hindi, Dutch, Thai, Malayalam, Swahili, Pashto, Tamil, Azerbaijani, Swedish, Uzbek, Albanian, Somali, Rohingya, and others. This multilingual effort is intended to deliver the sermon’s message of unity and tolerance to a diverse global audience, fostering better communication between Muslims and non-Muslims.

Saudi authorities had earlier confirmed the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent on May 27, marking the start of the Islamic calendar’s 12th month. The Day of Arafat will fall on June 5, followed by Eid-el-Adha on June 6.
