Chidiebere Justice Mark, recognized by many as Justice Crack, has been freed after successfully fulfilling the bail terms established by the Federal High Court in Abuja, following significant public focus and pressure from advocates and civil rights organizations. The court had previously allowed him bail set at 5 million with one surety in the same amount, while additionally requiring him to hand over his international passport and meet other rigorous requirements before his freedom.

Justice Crack was originally taken into custody by the Nigerian Army regarding viral videos where he pointed out alleged deficient feeding and welfare circumstances among Nigerian troops. He was subsequently handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) and arraigned for alleged cybercrime and disseminating details capable of triggering public disturbance. The matter attracted substantial public compassion, with numerous Nigerians and activists contending that he faced punishment for amplifying valid welfare grievances from military personnel instead of propagating untruths.

Throughout the trial, a DSS witness reportedly gave testimony stating that a portion of the pictures and grievances Justice Crack distributed were in fact transmitted to him by active soldiers themselves. His freeing has now been applauded online, with advocates describing it as a triumph for free expression and public insistence, even while his trial goes on.
