President-elect Donald Trump has appointed 27-year-old Karoline Leavitt as the White House press secretary. Trump praised Leavittβs intelligence, resilience, and communication skills, which she showcased as the national press secretary for Trumpβs campaign.
βI have complete confidence that she will thrive at the podium and effectively convey our message to the American public,β Trump said on Leavittβs appointment.
Leavittβs appointment makes her one of the youngest individuals to hold this prestigious role. She will represent the administration and respond to media inquiries. Notably, Leavitt welcomed her first child in July, just before the election, and previously worked as an assistant press secretary during Trumpβs first term.
Leavittβs experience also includes running for a House of Representatives seat in New Hampshire in 2022 and serving as the communications director for Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, whom Trump has nominated to be the UN ambassador.
βI didnβt grow up in a political family. I grew up like most Americans in a middle-class business family here in my home state of New Hampshire,β she told the Fox News podcast.
βI just dove into politics at my college, Saint Anselm College, in Manchester (New Hampshire).β
