A 42-year-old employee of an electricity distribution company, Oluwole Orija, lost his life after being electrocuted while working in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State. The tragic incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025.

Confirming the incident in a statement on Thursday, Lagos State Police Command spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin said Orija was reconnecting and fixing faulty electrical wires at Borno Way by Ayodele Junction when he suffered the fatal shock. He was immediately rescued and rushed to the Federal Medical Center, Ebute Metta, for treatment but was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

“On Wednesday, March 19, at about 10:15 a.m., a staff member of the electricity distribution company reported at Yaba Division that his colleague, a 42-year-old male, was electrocuted while working on faulty electrical wires at Borno Way by Ayodele Junction, Ebute Metta,” the statement read.

Following the report, detectives visited the scene and the hospital, where the body was inspected and photographed. Hundeyin added that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
