The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 42-year-old Indian woman, Ms. Neetu Neetu, at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, for attempting to smuggle 72 parcels of heroin disguised as chocolates.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the drugs, weighing 11kg, were seized from her luggage during a security check at the airport’s arrival hall. The interception occurred on March 14, 2025, during the clearance of a Qatar Airways flight from Bangkok, Thailand, via Vietnam and Doha. NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), expressed concern over the increasing involvement of foreign nationals in drug trafficking, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to countering such tactics with advanced intelligence and technology.

Major Drug Seizures in Kano and Lagos In a separate operation in Kano, NDLEA officers arrested a 45-year-old suspect, Michael Ogundele, with a 50-litre gas cylinder containing 50,000 tramadol pills. Another suspect, Sunday Ogar, was caught with 27kg of skunk, while 40-year-old Khadijah Abdullahi was found in possession of 424 bottles of codeine-based syrup.

In Lagos, NDLEA operatives arrested Olumuyiwa Kolawole and Samod Adisa in Mushin with 67.5kg of skunk. An additional 100.8kg of the substance was recovered from the storage facility of two fleeing suspects in Anifowoshe. Further arrests included Isah Idris in Apapa, found with 4.5kg of skunk, tramadol, and codeine syrup, as well as Yahaya Mohamed in Ikotun, caught with cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine. The NDLEA continues its crackdown on drug trafficking networks across the country.
