The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, has upheld Julius Abure’s position as the National Chairman of the Labour Party. In a judgment delivered on Friday by Justice Hamma Barka, a three-member appellate panel reaffirmed its earlier ruling from November 13, 2024, which recognized Abure as the party’s legitimate chairman. The court clarified that this decision remains valid, as no other court has overturned it.

Justice Barka made this pronouncement while ruling on two separate appeals filed by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, the caretaker committee, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The appellate court emphasized that it did not deliberate on the Labour Party leadership dispute, as such matters are non-justiciable.

Additionally, the court ruled that any decision made outside its jurisdiction is null and void. As a result, the Federal High Court’s ruling of October 8, 2024, delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite, was declared invalid due to a lack of jurisdiction and was subsequently struck out.

By dismissing the case, the Appeal Court reinforced its previous ruling from November 13, 2024, affirming that Julius Abure remains the National Chairman of the Labour Party. More details to follow…Source : https://punchng.com/
