Troops from Operation Hadari Daji in the North-West Zone clashed with bandits on Friday, rescuing four students and a teacher from a secondary school in Kebbi State. The bandits had previously attacked the Federal Government College Birnin Yauri on Thursday, abducting students and teachers. However, the Operation Hadari Daji troops successfully intervened.

Deputy Force Commander, Air Commodore Abubakar Abdulkadir, confirmed the encounter, stating that the troops engaged the kidnappers in a gunfight. Due to the intense battle, the bandits abandoned the five students and one teacher they had kidnapped.

Tragically, one of the students, whose identity remains unknown, later died under unclear circumstances. Abdulkadir confirmed the loss, stating, “We engaged the kidnappers in the early hours, and they abandoned five students and one teacher, but unfortunately, we lost one student.”
