The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered human remains hidden within buildings disguised as Cherubim and Seraphim Church parishes in Kobape town and along Abiola Way in Abeokuta, the state capital. The discovery came after the arrest of three suspects — Sunday Akintobi, Oladimeji Olaniran, and Isaiah Tijani — who were apprehended on April 22, 2025, in separate locations across Abeokuta for allegedly being in possession of human body parts.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the arrests were carried out by the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit following actionable intelligence. “At about 8 a.m. on April 22, SWAT operatives arrested Sunday Akintobi, 36, of the Itoku area, suspected of trafficking in human remains,” she said.

Subsequent investigations led to the apprehension of two more suspects, Oladimeji Olaniran, 40, and Isaiah Tijani, 38. A search of their premises revealed bones and other suspected human parts. Odutola disclosed that the remains were found in buildings posing as religious centres. “The structures were masquerading as Cherubim and Seraphim Churches, but in reality, were being used for illicit and gruesome activities,” she explained.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to launch an in-depth investigation to uncover the full scope of the suspects’ operations. The police urged the public to avoid harbouring criminals and to continue providing reliable information to security agencies. “Community cooperation is key to ending ritual killings and related violent crimes,” Odutola said.

She also confirmed that forensic examinations have been mandated to support ongoing investigations, and advised families to strengthen the security of their loved ones’ burial sites to prevent grave desecration. Source : https://punchng.com/
