Ayra Starr, born Sarah Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, has surpassed 1 billion total views on YouTube, becoming the first Nigerian female artist to hit this milestone.This achievement is largely attributed to the success of her hit single “Rush,” which alone has garnered over 458 million views, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.

The 22-year-old singer now joins top Nigerian acts such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Rema, Omah Lay, Kizz Daniel, Tekno, P-Square, Flavour, and Fireboy DML in the billion-view club. “Rush,” her Grammy-nominated track, played a significant role in elevating her international presence. In May, “Rush” received Platinum Certification in the UK after surpassing 600,000 combined sales and streams, further affirming its global appeal. Since her 2021 debut, Ayra Starr has steadily expanded her reach, amassing over 4.8 million Spotify followers by May 2025.

The song has also achieved multiple international certifications, including: Platinum in the UK, Diamond in France, Platinum in Canada and New Zealand. 3× Platinum in Nigeria.

It also marked her debut on the UK Official Top 100 chart, strengthening her position in the global Afrobeats scene.Ayra Starr’s rise illustrates the growing influence of digital platforms in African music. Her career reflects the power of strategic releases, label support, and fan-driven virality, particularly among Gen Z audiences.
