Late gospel artist Bolaji Olanrewaju, widely known as Big Bolaji, was laid to rest at All Souls Private Cemetery in Ido, Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. His passing on April 19 at age 50 after a brief illness left the gospel music community in mourning.
On Wednesday, the funeral rites began with a lying-in-state held at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, Ibadan, where family, friends, and figures from the gospel music industry gathered to pay their last respects.
Pallbearers solemnly carried Big Bolaji’s flower-covered casket into the venue as mourners observed a moment of silence. Despite the heavy emotions, the event also served to honor his legacy with a tribute video highlighting his musical path and spiritual influence, drawing both applause and tears.
Notable attendees included gospel artists such as Tosin Bee, Mike Abdul, Bidemi Olaoba, and Yetunde Are, as well as comedian Woli Agba and other admirers who came to say goodbye. The ceremony concluded with a burial procession that led to his interment at All Souls Private Cemetery.
