A day after its release, billionaire Femi Otedola’s memoir, Making it Big: Lessons from a Life in Business, climbed to 4th place on Amazon’s Best Sellers list in the Business, Biographies and Memoirs category. The 286-page book, launched in London on Monday and simultaneously released worldwide through outlets such as Amazon, makingitbigbook.com, and Australia’s largest bookseller Dymocks, details Otedola’s journey from modest beginnings to becoming a billionaire at 41.On Amazon’s rankings, the memoir trailed Gary Stevenson’s The Trading Game: A Confession at number 1, Simon Squibb’s What’s Your Dream?: Find Your Passion, Love Your Work, Build A Richer Life at number 2, and Phil Knight’s Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of NIKE at number 3.

In the book, Otedola, who chairs Geregu Power PLC and FirstHoldCo PLC, writes about his struggles with education that led him to drop out before university, and how former President Olusegun Obasanjo once persuaded him to donate ₦300 million to complete the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja.

He also reflects on an encounter with the late MKO Abiola, which shaped his understanding of money, power, and influence, and recounts his ventures across oil and gas, shipping, power, real estate, and finance — including the setbacks that nearly derailed his fortune and reputation.
