Kanye West has postponed his scheduled concert in Marseille, citing personal reasons after reports emerged that French authorities were considering blocking the event. The rapper announced the decision on X, stating that he had chosen to delay the show until further notice.According to reports, France’s Interior Minister, Laurent Nunez, had been pushing to stop the June 11 performance due to West’s past antisemitic remarks.
West, 48, has faced widespread criticism over controversial statements, including antisemitic comments and remarks expressing admiration for Adolf Hitler.In the United Kingdom, authorities have also denied him entry over similar concerns, leading to the cancellation of a festival he was scheduled to headline. Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the decision to book the rapper as “deeply concerning.”
However, the Netherlands has taken a different stance, with Asylum and Migration Minister Bart van den Brink stating that there are currently no plans to bar the artist from entering the country. In a separate post, West said he is working to make amends, acknowledging responsibility for his actions while expressing a desire not to involve his fans in the controversy.
In May 2025, he released a track titled “Heil Hitler,” months after promoting a swastika-themed shirt on his website. The song was subsequently removed from major streaming platforms. West later expressed regret over his behaviour, attributing it to his bipolar disorder.
