The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended popular TikTok personality Murja Ibrahim Kunya in Kano for allegedly abusing the Nigerian currency, the naira. A source within the anti-graft agency confirmed her arrest to Kano-based Freedom Radio over the weekend. According to Daily Trust, the source stated, “The investigation is ongoing, and once completed, she will be charged in court for prosecution.”

Murja Kunya, who initially started social media as a hobby, has since built a full-time career around it. Her TikTok account, Yagayagamen, has gained widespread attention, though her content has frequently stirred controversy, leading to multiple convictions in Kano State. Kunya’s arrest is part of a broader crackdown, as the EFCC has also recently detained other TikTok influencers, including Al’amin G-Fresh and Ashir Idris, on similar charges.
