The family of Nigerian actress Peju Ogunmola has clarified the circumstances surrounding the death of her only son with veteran comic actor Sunday Omobolanle, popularly known as Papi Luwe. Earlier reports had suggested that 24-year-old Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle died on September 1, 2025, in the United States after a fall in the bathroom without help. However, the family has dismissed those claims as false.

In a statement issued by Yemi Amodu and titled “Setting the Record Straight on the Passing of Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle,” the family confirmed that Ayomikun, who recently completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), passed away after a brief illness. He was said to have received quality medical care before his death at a hospital in Ibadan, Nigeria, where he was later laid to rest at Eternal Rest Home.

The statement emphasized that there was no bathroom accident, calling the viral reports “entirely false” and harmful to his memory. “They not only dishonour his memory but also bring unnecessary pain to his loved ones,” the family noted. The Omobolanle family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers, condolences, and support during their time of grief, describing Ayomikun as “a jewel, a precious child, and a rising star whose light shone brightly and touched many lives.”

They prayed for eternal rest for the young man and urged the public to disregard misleading stories about the circumstances of his death.
