Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has redeployed the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi, to the Ministry of Transport.

The position became vacant following the resignation of former commissioner Ibrahim Ali Namadi, who left over alleged involvement in drug-related issues. With the redeployment, the office of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice is now unoccupied.

According to a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, the reshuffle is aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery. The Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Barrister Mustapha Nuruddeen Muhammad, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Environment as Permanent Secretary. The Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs, who had been acting at the Ministry of Transport, will return to her substantive post.

Governor Yusuf directed that all affected officials hand over to the most senior officers in their ministries, with the process to be completed by Tuesday, September 23, 2025. He emphasized that the redeployment is designed to optimize capacity, align responsibilities, and improve government performance, urging full cooperation with the newly assigned commissioner.
