The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and taken into custody popular TikTok influencer Habeeb Hamzat, also known as Peller, following a viral video showing him driving recklessly while live-streaming on social media. In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the command said the incident occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

The police stated that the video captured Peller driving dangerously, resulting in a serious road crash that endangered his life and those of other road users. They described his actions as unlawful and noted that they posed a significant risk to public safety. “The suspect was arrested and detained for further investigation following the viral video showing him driving recklessly, causing a serious accident,” the statement said. “The act put his life and those of innocent road users at risk.”

Peller, 20, is one of Nigeria’s most prominent TikTok personalities, known for his humorous content, distinctive use of English, and energetic live streams, which have earned him millions of followers across social media platforms. The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation. The outcome will be made public, and the influencer will be charged in court if found guilty.

“The case is under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department,” the statement added. “The suspect will be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction in accordance with the law.” In response to the incident, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, issued a stern warning to social media influencers, content creators, and the general public against using online platforms to engage in, promote, or glorify reckless or criminal behavior.
