Roberto Carlos hospitalized after heart attack in Brazil

Brazil and Real Madrid icon Roberto Carlos has confirmed that he recently underwent a preventive heart procedure, stressing that he did not suffer a heart attack and is recovering well in a hospital in São Paulo.In a statement shared on social media on Wednesday, the former full-back addressed speculation surrounding his health, explaining that the procedure was planned in advance in consultation with his medical team and was successfully completed. He reassured fans that his condition is stable and that there is no cause for concern.

Roberto Carlos added that he is responding well to treatment and is optimistic about returning to full fitness, as well as resuming his professional and personal activities. He expressed gratitude to supporters for their messages of care and thanked the medical team involved in his treatment.

Now 52, Roberto Carlos is widely regarded as one of the greatest full-backs in football history. He enjoyed an illustrious career that included winning the FIFA World Cup with Brazil in 2002, as well as four La Liga titles and three UEFA Champions League trophies with Real Madrid between 1996 and 2007. He also finished as runner-up in the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 1997 and the Ballon d’Or in 2002.
