Alexx Ekubo to be laid to rest on June 18

The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has announced plans for his funeral, with burial rites scheduled to conclude on June 18, 2026. Details of the arrangements were shared in an obituary statement posted on the late actor’s Instagram page.

Ekubo reportedly died on May 11 after battling kidney cancer, while the family appealed to the public to continue praying for him and his loved ones during the mourning period. According to the programme released by the family, a service of songs will hold on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Centre between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., with guests expected to wear white.A wake-keep is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the family residence located in Ujari Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.

The funeral service and interment will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Mary Slessor School, while the final burial ceremony will be held at the family residence in Ujari Village. A reception is expected to follow immediately after the interment at Mary Slessor School in Amanagwu Village, with attendees also required to appear in white attire. The family thanked the public for the support shown so far and requested continued prayers as preparations for the final rites continue.
