
The Nigerian film industry is mourning the loss of visionary director, Dimeji Ajibola, who passed away on November 3 after a courageous battle with illness. Ajibola’s creative genius shone brightly through his work on the hit series Shanty Town.
As a trailblazing filmmaker, Ajibola seamlessly merged traditional and digital art forms, leaving an indelible mark on the entertainment landscape. His diverse expertise spanned film, animation, visual effects, virtual worlds, and interactive media.
Ajibola’s impressive educational background laid the foundation for his success. He studied filmmaking and cinematography at the New York Film Academy, advanced character animation at Animation Mentor in San Francisco, and visual effects at VFXLearning.
His directorial masterpiece, Hoodrush (2012), earned numerous accolades, including Best Movie at the Green Me Film Festival in Germany, Best Actor and Soundtrack at the Nollywood Movies Awards, and Best Supporting Actor at the AMAA Awards.
The industry will deeply miss Dimeji Ajibola’s innovative spirit and creative vision. May his legacy continue to inspire future generations, and may his soul rest in eternal peace.
