In a recent interview with Silverbird TV, Chidimma Adetshina revealed her decision to quit pageantry, citing personal reasons and a traumatic experience in the industry.
“Finishing in the top 2 [at the Miss Universe competition] is still a shocker for me… Honestly, I am done. Pageantry was a real traumatic experience for me,” she said.
“People still don’t understand how I felt. There were times when I almost quit during the Miss Universe contest. I’m really done with pageantry. I want to focus on myself and establish who I am. And forward my education as well.”
Adetshina, who finished as the first runner-up at the Miss Universe competition, also held the titles of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania, as well as Miss Nigeria.
Her journey in pageantry was not without controversy, as she withdrew from the Miss South Africa contest due to scrutiny over her nationality.With her decision to relocate to Nigeria from South Africa, Adetshina is closing a chapter on her pageantry career and embarking on a new journey.
