
Lateef Adedimeji, a renowned Nollywood actor and filmmaker, has shared his inspiring story of overcoming obstacles in the entertainment industry. In an emotional interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Adedimeji recalled how a mentor in the Yoruba movie industry doubted his potential, predicting he would fail within a year.
Undeterred, Adedimeji confidently replied that he would prove himself within two years. This determination ultimately propelled him to success.Adedimeji also opened up about his romantic proposal to his wife, Mo Bimpe, which took place over the phone. However, their happiness has been marred by online trolls who have been calling his wife barren.
The actor expressed his frustration with these hurtful comments, emphasizing his wife’s strength and support throughout his career.Adedimeji reflected on his past struggles, including a project called Lisabi, where people who promised to support him failed to deliver. Fortunately, his wife stood by him, boosting his confidence during difficult times.
“Someone once told me in the Yoruba movie industry that he gave me one year to see what I would become. I told him to give me two years and he will see what I will become. My wife and I have received a lot of trolls. Recently, someone called her barren on social media. She would always show it to me and would say they would be all right.
I just called her one morning and asked if she would marry me and she said Yes. When I wanted to do my first big screen job, Lisabi, I realized that everybody that I felt would stand by me was not there; there was nobody”.
The actor’s journey is a testament to his perseverance and determination. He has come a long way, from collecting N4,000 for a lead role to becoming a respected figure in the entertainment industry.
Adedimeji’s talent has earned him recognition, including a nomination for Best Actor in a Lead Role at the AMVCA 10th edition. Despite facing setbacks, he remains grateful for his growth and the support of his loved ones.
