Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has travelled to the United States to attend the wedding of his nephew, music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido. The wedding between Davido and Chioma Avril Rowland is scheduled to take place in Miami, Florida, in August 2025.
This development was confirmed by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, in a statement released on Tuesday, August 5. The statement followed criticism from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, which alleged that Adeleke left the country without officially handing over power to his deputy.
According to Rasheed, the governor departed Nigeria a few days earlier on the family’s private jet and extended an open invitation to the opposition party to join the celebration either in person or virtually. He emphasised that Adeleke had not taken any official vacation since he assumed office in November 2022 and stressed that the current trip would be brief.
Rasheed further noted that despite being away, the governor remains actively involved in state affairs through constant communication with his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, who is overseeing government activities in his absence.
