Nigerian rapper Keshinro Ololade, popularly known as Lil Kesh, has spoken publicly for the first time since the violent attack in Lagos that left him with severe injuries. The “Shoki” hitmaker was reportedly stabbed in the neck during the assault on Wednesday, August 20. Part of his ear was also severed but later stitched back. His jewelry was allegedly stolen in the attack, sparking concern and prayers from fans and fellow artistes. Details of the incident remain unclear.
Breaking his silence on X, Lil Kesh assured fans he is recovering. “Life threw me a curveball, but I’m safe, healing, and blessed to be here. Grateful for the love, support and prayers,” he wrote. The post quickly went viral, with fans flooding his page with messages of relief and continued prayers.
Lil Kesh, who rose to fame under Olamide’s YBNL Nation, has remained a prominent voice in Afrobeats despite recent challenges. This is not the first time Nigerian entertainers have been attacked. In January, US-based rapper Yung6ix recounted surviving a foiled robbery in Los Angeles after a gunman shot at his car. Around the same period, DJ Big N revealed he was shot in the leg during a robbery in Johannesburg, where attackers carted away jewelry and valuables worth \$114,000.
