The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has begun a five-day warning strike today after its latest ultimatum to the Federal Government over unpaid allowances, salary arrears, and other unresolved welfare concerns expired. The association said it was left with no option but to proceed with industrial action, citing government inaction on long-standing demands.

In a notice titled “Declaration of strike action” issued on Friday, NARD Secretary-General, Dr. Oluwasola Odunbaku, confirmed the commencement of the strike. “As earlier stated in our communique, the strike is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. today (Friday). All centre leadership should guide their members accordingly. Further updates will be shared with NEC members in due course,” he said.
