The police have initiated a manhunt for the abductors of students from the Enugu State College of Health Technology in Oji River Local Government Area.

Reports indicate that armed men, suspected to be herdsmen, invaded the college and abducted five students as they were leaving the school premises.

A video circulating on social media on Saturday shows an injured man covered in blood in the aftermath of the attack.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, August 18, stating that the attack occurred on Thursday evening.

He clarified that reports suggesting many students were abducted were exaggerated and misleading.

The PPRO stated that the police received a tip-off about the attack and responded quickly, managing to rescue two of the abducted students. However, three other students remain missing, he added.

He assured that a vigorous operation had been launched to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
