
A violent mob in Mararaba Udege, Nasarawa State, has set a car ablaze and demolished a house belonging to a suspect’s grandfather. The suspect, Emmanuel Sani, allegedly stabbed his estranged wife’s brother to death during a heated argument.
The incident occurred on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the suspect’s father-in-law’s residence. Sani allegedly used a knife to stab the victim, Lazarus, who later died in the hospital.
Following the incident, the suspect narrowly escaped from the community, leaving behind his vehicle, which was set ablaze by the mob. The residence of his grandfather was also demolished and set on fire.
A Facebook user, Abdulmalik Mikail, confirmed the incident in a post and appealed to the public to provide any information on the suspect’s whereabouts to the police.
Mikail wrote, “He is called Emmanuel Sani. Please, do not hesitate to reach out to us or to the nearest police station when you see this face. He just stabbed my little cousin who happened to be his brother-in-law to death.”However, in a statement on Saturday night, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed that the suspect has been arrested.

Nansel added that the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the General Hospital, Nasarawa.The police are currently investigating the incident, and the suspect will likely face charges for his alleged role in the stabbing incident.
The community is still reeling from the aftermath of the violent incident, which has left many residents in shock and grief. The police have appealed to the public to remain calm and to allow the law to take its course in addressing the incident.
