
The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old woman, Hannatu Ibrahim, for allegedly stealing $35,000 (N53,495,400.00) from her Syrian employer, Mohammed Jurdi, and setting his house on fire in the New GRA area of Gombe.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, revealing that two other suspects, Ahmed Adamu (20) and Abubakar Ibrahim (28), were also apprehended in connection with the theft. According to the PPRO, Ibrahim, a resident of Kumo in Akko LGA and a cook for the Syrian national, was caught by a police patrol team from Gombe Division with $7,100 of the stolen money in her possession.
“On 22/03/2025, at about 20:00 hours, a distress call was received from New GRA, Gombe, near the Legislative Quarters, reporting that the suspect, who worked as a cook for one Mohammed Jurdi, a Syrian attached to Triacter Nigeria Limited, had stolen $35,000 (N53,495,400.00) from him and set his house on fire,” the statement read.
“Upon receiving the report, a police patrol team from Gombe Division swiftly responded and arrested the primary suspect, Hannatu Ibrahim.” “During the investigation, she was found in possession of $7,100 and revealed that the second suspect, Ahmed Adamu, was the first person she contacted. He admitted to taking two $100 bills from the stolen cash.
“Ahmed Adamu was subsequently arrested, and a $100 bill was found in his wallet. “The third suspect, Abubakar Ibrahim, who worked as a security guard for the victim, was also taken into custody in connection with the crime.”
Recovered Exhibits: $7,100 from the first suspect and $100 from the second suspect. “The case will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation,” the statement concluded.
