
The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended two individuals suspected of car theft, rejected a one million naira bribe, and recovered a stolen vehicle along with other evidence. A statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, and made available to journalists on Wednesday in Katsina, outlined the details. “On April 11, 2025, at approximately 1500 hrs, officers from the Border Patrol Zone 4 in Katsina, during a routine patrol near Birnin Kuka village, Mashi LGA, flagged down a green Toyota Corolla LE driven by 26-year-old Mubarak Kabir and 27-year-old Adamu Hashim, both from Kurna quarters, Fagge LGA, Kano State,” the statement said.”
During the initial investigation, it was determined that the vehicle was stolen from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. The suspects attempted to bribe the officers with ₦1,000,000 in cash in an effort to escape justice, but the officers firmly rejected the offer. The suspects are currently in custody.
“The statement further detailed the recovery of a stolen motor vehicle, ₦1,000,000 in cash, three mobile phones, a power bank, and a set of keys from the suspects as evidence. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement in criminal activities, with further updates to be provided as the investigation progresses.
Katsina State Police Commissioner, CP Bello Shehu, praised the officers for their unwavering commitment to upholding the law and their integrity during the operation. He also reiterated the Command’s dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of the citizens of Katsina while maintaining respect for human rights and upholding a high standard of integrity.
