Lagos to Launch Special Number Plates for Persons with DisabilitiesThe Lagos State Number Plate Production Authority (LSNPPA) is set to roll out specially designed number plates to identify and recognize Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) in the state.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, during the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing held in Lagos on Tuesday, marking the second year of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second term.

Osiyemi highlighted that from May 2024 to March 2025, the LSNPPA produced 218,400 standard number plates for both private and commercial vehicles. He noted that the introduction of the disability-specific plates aligns with the THEMES Plus Agenda, which prioritizes inclusiveness.

As the manufacturing arm of the state for vehicle number plates, the LSNPPA also produced 716 fancy car plates, 347 motorcycle fancy plates, and 224 out-of-series plates based on unique requests. The authority also handled 11,152 standard number plate replacements, 212 for motorcycles, and 63 standard fancy replacements to ensure accurate vehicle tracking. Additional outputs included 428 official plates, 1,510 dealer plates, and 4,000 plates for articulated vehicles. Osiyemi emphasized that the agency also contributes to infrastructure aesthetics by producing aluminum-based road furniture for the state.
