The Edo State House of Assembly has given Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, the lawmaker representing Egor constituency, one week to appear before its Ethics and Privileges Committee for allegedly bringing the House into public disrepute. The Speaker of the House, Agbebaku, expressed concern that Natasha, who is married to Nigerian international singer Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba, has been tarnishing the reputation of the Assembly.
The directive follows the circulation of a viral video on several social media platforms showing Natasha inside a shop at London airport repeatedly shouting, “Don’t do it. Don’t f***ing do it. Na everyday you go dey shout for me? Wetin dey happen? Why are you raising your voice at me?”
Speaking at plenary, the Speaker described the lawmaker’s conduct as embarrassing. “Distinguished members, our Honourable House, with its cerebral and highly educated members, has been dragged through the mud for too long by our colleague, Honorable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru. “For the past week, she has been trending negatively across electronic and social media platforms, including TVC and Silverbird Television.
“We want the public to know that this House is decent and reputable. In Nigeria, this House is one of the best. We have responsible and intelligent members who know what they are doing. The misconduct of one member cannot drag the House into disrepute,” he said. Agbebaku added that the House frowns upon such behaviour and will no longer tolerate it. He directed Natasha to appear before the Ethics and Privileges Committee within one week, while the committee has two weeks to submit its report.
