Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has secured Federal Government approval for the establishment of the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port along the Epe/Mojoda Expressway, Ijebu-Ode. The project, to be developed on 130 hectares of land allocated by the state government, comes as part of Abiodun’s push to deliver legacy infrastructure projects. The land allocation, granted on an ex-gratis basis, followed a request by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and reflects Ogun’s commitment to national trade infrastructure and investment.
According to the governor’s media aide, Tayo Mabeweje, the dry port will help decongest the Lagos Port System, serve as a cargo consolidation and distribution hub for the South-West, and boost Ogun’s competitiveness in logistics and trade. He added that the project is expected to increase national GDP, strengthen the Ogun State Industrial Hub initiative, create jobs, unlock new economic opportunities, and enhance the infrastructural value of Ijebu-Ode and its environs.
The approval comes shortly after another major achievement for the state — the Gateway International Airport recently received certification from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, boosting Ogun’s profile as a destination for trade, investment and tourism.Governor Abiodun described the inland dry port and the new airport as “critical enablers of industrialization and regional competitiveness,” saying they would transform Ogun into a logistics and economic hub.
He noted that with the Kajola Inland Dry Port already secured for the Ogun Central Industrial Cluster and now the Ijebu-Ode project for the Eastern corridor, his administration is strategically balancing development across all three senatorial districts. “These achievements stand as testaments to our vision and unrelenting drive to deliver modern infrastructure, attract investment, and unlock prosperity for all,” he said.
