Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals has begun free delivery of fuel to filling stations nationwide, starting with Lagos, the South-West, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo States. The 650,000-bpd refinery launched the distribution on Monday after earlier announcing a reduction in petrol pump price to N841 per litre.
According to Tribune Online, Dangote Group spokesperson Anthony Chiejina stated that the initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on Nigerians by offering fuel at lower prices. He explained that the free fuel distribution commenced with the highlighted states, with petrol now retailing at N841 per litre in Lagos and the South-West, and N851 per litre in Abuja, Edo, Kwara, Rivers, and Delta. The price adjustment is expected to stimulate economic activity while offering consumers relief.
The refinery has already deployed over 1,000 trucks to support the programme, with additional states set to benefit as more trucks are delivered. To further strengthen logistics and cut costs, the refinery has also introduced a fleet of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks.
