Nigerian music star Burna Boy has reclaimed the No. 1 position among Africa’s most-streamed artists on Spotify, surpassing South African singer Tyla. His rise has been fueled by the success of “Dai Dai,” a collaboration with Colombian singer Shakira for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The song attracted global attention after its performance at the tournament’s opening ceremony and has continued to perform strongly on international music charts.

The track has topped the charts in Spain while reaching No. 2 in France, No. 3 in Italy, No. 4 in the United Kingdom, No. 5 in Switzerland, and No. 8 in Germany, boosted by extensive tournament broadcasts and radio airplay. The latest achievement adds to Burna Boy’s impressive Spotify catalog, with his hit song “Last Last” closing in on 600 million streams. The chart success also comes ahead of his forthcoming studio album and the launch of his “Unity Tour” later this year.

Burna Boy currently leads Spotify’s African streaming rankings, with Tems recording 40.64 million monthly listeners. Ayra Starr and Rema also remain among the platform’s most-streamed African artists. Globally, Bruno Mars holds Spotify’s highest monthly listener record with 133.6 million listeners, followed by Justin Bieber (128.4 million), The Weeknd (113.9 million), Rihanna (110.3 million), and Michael Jackson (109.6 million).
