In a tragic incident in Magamar-Jibia town, Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, a member of the Hunters Association of Nigeria (HAN), Aliyu Yahaya, 31, was brutally murdered by bandits who then set his body and home ablaze. The attackers also abducted his wife, son, and three neighbors during the raid on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
According to Salisu Yahaya, the deceased’s brother, the assailants overpowered Aliyu in his home, killed him, and set his body on fire inside his room. The horrifying act has left the community in shock and mourning.
The State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident, stating, “Yes, the incident happened, and an investigation is ongoing with the view to arrest the perpetrators and rescue the kidnapped victims.”
The brutal attack has sparked widespread outrage among residents, who are demanding urgent action from the government to address the growing insecurity in the region. Community members have also appealed to the authorities to prioritize the rescue of the kidnapped victims, hoping to alleviate the trauma experienced by their families and the community at large.
Alhaji Sani Salisu, a local community leader, attributed the attack to the lack of security personnel in the area. He has called for an increased security presence to prevent such tragedies in the future.
