Social Media Activist VeryDarkMan Urges Davido to Release Detained Singer Dammy Krane

Nigerian social media personality, VeryDarkMan, has publicly appealed to Afrobeats superstar Davido, urging him to secure the release of his fellow artist, Dammy Krane, who is currently detained in prison.

On August 21, 2024, Dammy Krane warned that Davido should be held accountable if anything happened to him, alleging that the singer had used the police to orchestrate a false arrest against him. Krane claimed he was “arrested and oppressed for seeking justice,” accusing Davido of framing him with false accusations to protect his own interests.

In a post on his Instagram page on Wednesday, August 28, VeryDarkMan confirmed that Davido had instigated Dammy Krane’s arrest following accusations that Krane had made against him, including the allegation that Davido was involved in the death of his friend, Tagbo.

Addressing Davido directly, VeryDarkMan said, “David Adeleke, Davido, you are my brother, you are my guy, and one thing I know about you is that you’re a jolly good fellow and you’re not an oppressor. I know you have been pushed to the wall, but you aren’t an oppressor.”

VeryDarkMan went on to recount a visit to the police station, where he unexpectedly encountered Dammy Krane in custody. He explained that he was initially there to thank the officers for their assistance with his work when someone mentioned seeing a celebrity with dreadlocks in one of the cells.

“After I got there, I told the policemen that I wanted to see one of the people in the cell. Only for the guy to come out and I saw it was Dammy Krane. First of all, he wasn’t someone I wanted to see because he always insults me every time,” VeryDarkMan shared.

Despite their past conflicts, VeryDarkMan expressed his concern for Krane, recounting a conversation where Krane alleged that Davido was responsible for his arrest.

“I asked him why he was in prison, and he told me that it was Davido who put him there. I told him, ‘Why won’t he? You constantly attack him and his family unprovoked and without proof. You started off by saying that he owed you money and changed his name from OBO to OB owe, without proof,’” VeryDarkMan explained.

In his plea, VeryDarkMan urged Davido to reconsider his stance and release Dammy Krane, stating, “I want to take money to him for food but now I want to beg David, you are my brother, you’re not an oppressor. I know you have influence, but you cannot use your influence to keep him there. I want to beg you, this is not who you are, this is not your personality…abeg! Give this guy a second chance.”
