Reality TV Star Amy Slaton Arrested After Alleged Camel Bite Incident at Tennessee Safari Park

Amy Slaton, star of the reality TV show “1000-Lb Sisters,” experienced a series of unfortunate events after visiting the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo on Monday, September 3.

Slaton reportedly claimed that she was bitten by a camel at the zoo, which led to her being carried out on a stretcher. However, the situation escalated when she was later arrested for drug possession.

Photos obtained by TMZ show Amy being wheeled out of the park on a gurney, visibly in pain with a makeshift bandage wrapped around her arm. Witnesses described seeing Amy walking through the parking lot with a shirt tied around her arm before EMS workers assisted her onto the stretcher.

The incident took a troubling turn when law enforcement officers, investigating the alleged camel bite, discovered psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana in plain view inside her car. As a result, Slaton was arrested for illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI drugs. She also faces two counts of child endangerment, as her two children were in the car at the time.

Tennessee Safari Park, known for its drive-through safari and walk-through zoo where visitors can feed exotic animals like camels and giraffes, disputed Slaton’s claim of being bitten by a camel. Jon Conley, one of the park’s owners, told TMZ that there was no evidence to support her story. He explained that the injury Amy sustained—a cut above her elbow—did not match the typical signs of a camel bite, which would usually involve bruising and tissue damage. Furthermore, the park could not find any surveillance footage to confirm the incident, and Amy was unable to pinpoint the exact location where she was allegedly bitten.

After receiving treatment at the hospital, Slaton was transported to jail, where she was booked and had her mug shot taken. This incident adds to a troubling pattern of injuries at drive-through safaris, following a recent incident in June where a giraffe at a Texas zoo snatched a toddler from the back of a pickup truck.

Amy Slaton now faces legal battles stemming from the drug charges and child endangerment accusations, compounding the physical injury she sustained during what was supposed to be a routine zoo visit.
