Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer Tems has won the prestigious 67th Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance. This recognition highlights her exceptional talent and contribution to the music industry.

The 67th Grammy Awards took place at the (link unavailable) Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday. Tems emerged victorious in a fiercely competitive category, beating out strong contenders with her love song “Love Me Jeje”.

At 29, Tems now holds the record for the most Grammy awards won by a Nigerian artiste. This award marks her second Grammy win, following her 2023 victory for Best Melodic Rap Performance for the song “Wait For U” with Future and Drake.

Tems’ remarkable achievement is a testament to her hard work and dedication to her craft. Her music has resonated with audiences globally, earning her a well-deserved spot on the international music scene.

In addition to her Grammy win, Tems has also made history as the first African act to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Her collaboration with Future on “Wait For U” catapulted her to global stardom. Tems’ debut album “Born in the Wild” has been a massive success, with the standout track “Love Me Jeje” reaching No. 1 on the UK Afrobeats Chart and No. 3 on Billboard’s US Afrobeats Songs. The song’s success can be attributed to Tems’ unique ability to blend nostalgia with modern R&B and Afrobeats. Her performance of “Love Me Jeje” at the 2024 Coachella set was a highlight of the festival.

Tems’ artistry is being recognized on a larger scale, with her album “Born in the Wild” contending for Best Global Music Album. She faces stiff competition from international stars like Matt B and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Tems’ Grammy win is a milestone achievement for African music and a testament to her status as a global music icon. Her music continues to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide.
